Physicians: the social status and morale

I totally agree with the statement that the low social status of physicians means the low-quality health care. ‘Low quality’ means not only low quality of care but it also means low morale as well. In our country (Lithuania), the social status and salaries of physicians are low. Tips and semi-legal gifts for doctors are a rule. The health care system is demoralized. The best young doctors are leaving the country and not only for economic reasons. They do not want to be a part of corrupted system.
