III International Congress of Dual Disorders

The III International Congress of Dual Disorders: Addictions and other Mental Disorders will be held on October 23-26, 2013 in Barcelona, Spain. The Congress is organized under the auspices of the Spanish Society on Dual Diagnosis and 8 co-sponsoring organizations including the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and the U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).Prof. Miguel Casas, Head, Servei de Psiquiatria, Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona is the Chairman of the Congress. Dr. Nestor Szerman, Chair of the WPA Section on Dual Disorders/Pathology and the President of the Spanish Society on Dual Diagnosis, is one of the principal Congress organizers. The Organizing Committee includes Drs. Carlos Roncero (Coordinator), Maria Dolores Braquehais, Jose A. Ramos Quiroga and others.
Many different topics including cognitive behavioral and motivational therapy for patients with dual diagnosis, psychiatric comorbidity in alcoholism, inappropriate use of psychotropic medications, the influence of cannabis on the development of psychosis, dual pathology in immigrant youth, suicide prevention in dual pathology, and the use of antipsychotics for the treatment of patients with dual pathology will be discussed at the Congress.
